Unit #2: Newton's laws

Learning Targets: I can describe the motion of an object

Need to Know:

Vocabulary: Motion, Issac Newton, Friction, Surface, Inertia, Newtons' First Law, Newton's Second Law, Newton's Third Law,  Action force, Reaction force, Acceleration, Force, Mass

Newton's laws Quizlet

Newton's First Law: An object at REST will remain at REST unless acted upon by an UNBALANCED FORCE. An object in MOTION will remain in MOTION unless acted upon by an UNBALANCED FORCE.

Newton's Second Law: The FORCE of an object is equal to it's MASS multiplied by it's ACCELERATION.

Newton's Third Law: For every ACTION there is an EQUAL and OPPOSITE REACTION

Know how to apply Newton's 3 laws of motion to a situation.

The relationship between force and acceleration.

Formula for Newtons second Law (F=MA).

How to use the formula for Newtons' second law to calculate Force, Mass, or Acceleration.

Identify action and reaction forces.
