Hello and welcome to Room 109

My name is Katie Marie Johnson. I have worked for Mpls Public Schools since 2010. I am overjoyed to be at Keewaydin working with your fourth graders.

This is the second career for my life, Act 2! I received my teaching education through MCTC in the Urban Education Department and received my BS through Augsburg.

My husband and I raised our boys in south Minneapolis. They attended Minneapolis Public Schools K-12 and my oldest Hendrix attended Transitions Plus after graduating from South High School.

Along with all the joys that come from teaching and preparation, I enjoy playing the guitar and singing, gardening, bicycling, sewing and knitting, and repurposing old objects.

Please come and visit our classroom anytime. You can reach me by email at Katherine.Johnson@mpls.k12.mn.us

Climate Change Research & Action

Students in 109 have enjoyed learning about Weather, Climate, and Climate Change from Jude's mom Ginny Herzog. Room 109 is busy creating posters that will help them learn about the topics and help them present their findings to others. The goal is to not only learn about the effects of climate change but realize what we can do to counter the horrible effects of climate change. Some of our students attended the "Climate Change Strike" on 9/20/2019 at the Capital.
