4th Quarter Electives for 6th & 7th Graders 2019

Students will sign up for the classes by indicating their 1st, 2nd, & 3rd choice during their specialist class on Friday, March 8th.  Specialist teachers will do their best to make sure students get their first choice, but class size will play a role into whether students get their first, second, or third choice.

Wellness Class with Mr. Berg                                                                               

The goal of this course is to assist students in learning the current National Shape standards for health, exercise, wellness and learn how to shape their own personal health. The purpose of the course is to teach the proper technique for exercising and increase their flexibility as well as strength of the individual. This course will emphasize working on core, body posture, cardio, toning and flexibility from a multi-discipline approach. Students will participate in meditation, yoga, structured work out routines, wellness goal setting, and fitness walking and jogging.

Team Activities with Mr. Doherty

Teamwork is essential to everyday life and is stressed daily in this course. This course is designed to incorporate a full complement of team sports and lifetime activities with fitness components being a part of all activities. Team activities will include but not be limited to: Flag football, Volleyball, Handball, Basketball, Team Challenges, Wiffle Ball, Ultimate Frisbee, and other recreational activities. Students will be evaluated by demonstrating knowledge of the rules and strategies of the activities through skills testing, written exam, personal fitness assessment, and teacher observation. “You develop a team to achieve what one person cannot accomplish alone. Art II with Ms. Croft                                                                                                 

This course will consist of both independent and collaborative art activities. We will try a variety of printmaking techniques, art projects to benefit our community, and once the weather warms we will experience Earth art! Students will also have an opportunity to research an artist or art style of their choice, and create a culminating project in this style.
