Volunteer at LNCS

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at LNCS! Family and community volunteers make a big difference at our school. We offer a wide variety of volunteer opportunities including:

  • Site Council - Want to know what's happening at school and share your ideas? All families are invited to attend any of these monthly meetings with other parents and staff to discuss what's going on at LNCS and give input on school decisions, policies, planning, budgets, etc. Generally held the 2nd Thursday of each month at 5:30-6:30pm. Childcare provided. Locations alternate between Wenonah and Keewaydin.

  • Classroom Assistant or Tutor - We'll connect you with a teacher so you can help their classroom occassionally or on a regular basis. (Feel free to contact your student's teacher directly if you want to volunteer with their class.)

  • Art Class Assistant - Get a little messy supporting the art teacher in engaging all students in learning and exploration. No art expertise necessary!

  • Field Trip Chaparone - Look for invitations throughout the year from your student's teacher.

  • Office Helper - Work in the office on a regular basis or join our email list to be contacted about special projects

Here's How to Get Started Volunteering

1) To register as a volunteer, please complete the Wenonah Volunteer Form or the Keewaydin Volunteer Form and return it to the school office.

  • This form let us know what kind of volunteering you would like to do and and how to contact you. To follow up at Wenonah please contact the Family Liaison at jill.kilibarda@mpls.k12.mn.us or 612-668-5040; To follow up at Keewaydin contact the Family Liaison anne.tank@mpls.k12.mn.us or 612-668-4689.
  • Please also contact your student's teacher directly if you'd like to volunteer in their classroom.
  • If you would like to volunteer with PTA activities, turn in the PTA Volunteer Form

2) Complete the online free MPS Background Check if you have never completed one at your campus in the past.

  • Be aware this is a 2 step process. After you complete the online request form (step 1), then look in your email for a link 1-5 days later with the subject line "Action Request" to complete the actual form (step 2). You must complete that form within 48 hours or it will be deactivated.
  • If you are concerned about the background check or do not have a social security number, please talk to the Family Liaison's because background checks are not required for some volunteer positions: At Wenonah - jill.kilibarda@mpls.k12.mn.us or 612-668-5040; at Keewaydin - anne.tank@mpls.k12.mn.us or 612-668-4689.
