Welcome to Room 214!

I am looking forward to the school year and all the learning we will be doing together!

5th grade is a big year!  Students will be preparing for middle school by becoming more independent, developing their academic skills, and tackling new concepts. Students will also be introduced to AVID this year, a college readiness program designed to teach fundamental learning, study and academic behavioral skills that students will use throughout all their years of school.

I have a Bachelor of Design in Architecture from the University of Minnesota and a Master of Arts in Elementary Education through the University of St. Thomas.  This will be my sixth year with Minneapolis Public Schools, and my fourth year as a 5th grade teacher at Keewaydin!  I was a Special Education Assistant for two years in the Autism Program at Ramsey (now Justice Page) Middle School.  I also completed my clinical practice in a 5/6 classroom at Barton Open School.  I live in North Minneapolis, have a dog named Dax, love to sail, and have a wonderful partner named Matthew.  Keewaydin Rocks, and I am excited to share the year with you!

Best,

Allison Thompson
